Dear Sir
I read Mr Ross article the other day in the “Voice of UK” and it talks
about the voting at 16 and I would like to give a little comment on it.
Basically what it says is that Mr Ross is against the idea to lower the
voting age to 16 years. Mr Ross reports about the live of his 16-year-old
daughter. She lies stretched out on the sofa and plays Xbox for hours on end
and on Saturdays she finally gets out of bed at 3pm. If you want to converse
with her about politics, she will give you some short and unimportant answers –
she finally isn’t interested in politics.
He also says that not only teenagers are uninformed about the political
situation, also adults are. So, why should we give the vote to people who have
even less experience then we do? He says, that letting them vote would be a
huge mistake.
On that is that on the one hand the majority of teenagers don’t
care about politics but on the other hand there are surely some which do. What
I want to say is, that you can’t say this in a general way, but I agree on his opinion.
Regards
Nadja
