Thanksgiving & Black Friday

Hello everybody!

We were watching a video the other day and it talks about the history about Thanksgiving.

First I would like to tell you the history about Thanksgiving. In 1620 crossed the Pilgrim Fathers with their sailing ship the Atlantic Ocean and reached at the beginning of the winter season the east cost of America.
They built houses and ate the whole season fish. In spring they wanted to cultivate something, for example corn or potatoes. But they didn’t know how to do that, so they got help from Indians. After taking care of their vegetables, they harvested them and prepared a big meal for the Indians to thank for their help. After that they decided to celebrate this every year.

So on Thanksgiving Day family and friends come together and thank for what they have and take a meal together.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and opens the christmas shopping season. At this day retailers offer very low prices. I really don’t understand why people camp in front of a shop only to buy something on a very low price. Sometimes they really fight for the products and I can’t imagine, that everybody need what he buys on Black Friday. I think some people only buy something because the price is lower than normal.

This is a tradition in America and England and also in Austria and Germany are special Black Friday offers, especially in the electronic sector.

The following monday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday is Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is the online version of Black Friday.

Yours Nadja :)
